I was born and raised in Kansas. At the age of 5, I went with my Dad to take our Pomeranian "Pumpkin" to see Dr. Carr for her annual physical and vaccines. I had recently been to the doctor's office myself for pre-K booster shots, and felt for her possible pain. I was nervous for her. Dr. Carr told me not to worry, as the vaccines would not hurt her. To my amazement she did not even flinch when she got her shots! I was so amazed that she did not feel the shots, unlike the painful experience I had at the doctors just a few weeks earlier.
From that point on, I had one goal. Become a veterinarian! I began looking at veterinary colleges during 8th grade by sending information inquiries to all 26 veterinary colleges in the US. After researching all of the options, I chose to go to Kansas State University. It is a great school, was in my home state, and my Dad had graduated from there. Purple runs deep in my family. I still say that I am a Kansan by birth, but a Wildcat by the grace of God. It was in college that I developed my rabid love of college football. I entered Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine after completing three years of undergraduate work at KSU.
There are 4 great things that have happened in my life, the first of which was meeting my wife Becky. We first met in undergrad as I borrowed her notes in a class we had together the very first semester we were in school. I had to miss class one day, and she was ALWAYS there (the studious person she is). It was down hill from there. We got married our Senior year of Vet School. The second best thing to happen to me was earning my DVM. It was the culmination of a life goal. But what was I to do now?
Upon graduation we moved to the Chicago area as there were 40 job openings all relatively close to one another. I took my first job as a veterinarian at Care Animal Hospital of Arlington Heights under Dr. David Aul. I overheard Dr. Aul talking to a sales rep one day about a future practice location in a town that did not have a veterinarian. After the rep left I asked Dr. Aul to tell me more about this location he had been discussing. He told me it was in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. This was the third greatest thing to happen to me, moving to the Kenosha area. It is a wonderful community of people with larger city amenities. We have enjoyed bringing quality veterinary care to the Kenosha area, and look forward to a long future here.
The last and absolute greatest thing to happen to me, was the birth of our children. My son is my football buddy, and my daughter is my pink princess. I don't know how my life could have been complete without them. It is a powerful thing to see the world through a child's eyes. They enjoy our dogs and cats with us.
My most recent mission is to make our practice one that you will rave about. This is an ongoing process that we hope will allow us to serve you and your family better. We hope that you have one of the best experiences you have ever had when you visit us. If there is anything we can ever do for you, please do not hesitate to let us know.
Outside of work I enjoy everything Disney, cycling, computers, playing on my PS3, going to football games (GO 'Cats!), downhill skiing, fly fishing, hunting with my dogs and gardening.
