What To Expect in Our Animal Hospital

Kenosha veterinary services – delivered with courtesy and respect!

As a new client of Care Animal Hospital of Pleasant Prairie, you can expect our full attention to your pets’ needs. Our registration process provides our staff with more insight into your pet’s history before they arrive for their first appointment, allowing us to be better prepared for their visit.

Our Registration Process:

We request that all new pets have a completed registration form through our Checkvet portal, which provides our staff with more insight into the pet’s medical and behavioral history. Once this information is completed, you can then book an appointment with the type of appointment, day, and time that works best for you.

If your pet is experiencing an urgent medical need, please call our clinic to talk more with our team at 262-694-6515.

Fear Free Approach:

Our Fear-Free knowledge and tools give your pets a calming, less stressful veterinary experience. Our goal is to create a more positive experience during vet visits. If your pet shows excessive signs of fear, anxiety, or stress, the team may delay or postpone the exam or other procedures until the pet is calmer or more relaxed. Your team may prescribe anti-anxiety or other calming medications and supplements to help your pet with their appointment.

Appointment Check-in and Check-out:

Upon arrival, park at a numbered parking space and call (262) 694-6515. To maintain a Fear Free environment for your pet, the Front Desk Office Coordinator will perform check-in over the phone. After check-in, the Front Desk Office Coordinator will invite you inside our lobby to weigh your pet and escort you to your exam room, where you will receive your pet’s Fear Free bandana/ blanket. Your pet’s exam and check-out will occur in the exam room with you.

During the Appointment

As a new client of Care Animal Hospital of Pleasant Prairie, you can expect our full attention to your pets’ needs.

One of our veterinary technicians will start by asking about your pet’s medical history, current condition, and the reason for your visit, gathering this information for the doctor.
Then, one of our veterinarians will examine your pet, ask you further questions, and recommend diagnostic tests if necessary. Once any testing has been run, which we usually do in our in-house laboratory, your doctor will discuss a possible diagnosis and treatment plan, if warranted. At this time, you can ask our team any questions or concerns you may have about your pet’s care. Our veterinary team is committed to ensuring that you are completely comfortable and confident in your pet’s health decisions and the information provided.
Our veterinary technician will return to the exam room and provide you with helpful pet care information, answer your pet care questions, and schedule any needed follow-up appointments. Invoicing is done in the exam room to ensure your pet’s comfort while your transaction and visit are completed. For your convenience, we accept Cash, Check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Care Credit, and All Pet Card.

Please note: Our goal is to see all our clients and patients on time. Although we have contingencies in place for emergencies, there will be times when the unexpected creates delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible.

Surgery and Discharge from the hospital:

Patients scheduled for surgical and hospital procedures will receive important detailed instructions and information in two emails prior to the admission date.

Upon arrival, park at a numbered parking space and call (262) 694-6515. To maintain a Fear Free environment for your pet, the Front Desk Office Coordinator will invite you inside our lobby to weigh your pet and escort you to your exam room, where you will receive your pet’s Fear Free bandana/blanket. The surgical team will meet with you to review paperwork and perform a pre-surgical exam. You can stay up-to-date with your pet’s procedure throughout the day using the Airvet app.

After your pet’s procedure has been completed, our surgery team will contact you through the Airvet app to schedule your pet’s discharge. When you arrive for your discharge appointment, call (262) 694-6515. The Front Desk Office Coordinator will escort you to an exam room.

A surgical team member will review the discharge paperwork and medications and answer any questions.

Hospitalized Pets:

Updates will be given regularly via Airvet App by your medical team. Unfortunately, no visitors are allowed inside the ICU while patients are recovering.
